MARKETING + COMMUNITY MANAGER

Paradigm Coffee and Music ● Sheboygan, WI

July 2019 - Present

The Marketing and Community Manager’s purpose is to connect with the broader community through marketing and programming. Plan, produce, and oversee execution of marketing and communications plan including social media, website, and collateral materials for promotion of shows, products, and events. Develop materials to share Paradigm’s mission, menu, and events. Oversee and assist with organization and coordination of live music, gallery, meetings, and events. 

 

Marketing:

  • Update website content

  • Manage development, production, and distribution of promotional materials  

  • Develop and oversee the communications calendar 

  • Create content and post to social media to share full scope of menu and happenings

  • Engage with followers on social platforms (Facebook, Instagram)

  • Analyze marketing and communications programs and make recommendations to adjust strategy and tactics to increase effectiveness

  • Write press releases 

  • Develop and manage press contacts

  • Uptown development

 

Events:

  • Cultivate relationships and correspond with bands for live music performances and clientele for events, programs, and meetings.

  • Write contracts for bands as needed

  • Keep track of event finances and report to owner 

  • Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process

  • Promote events through social media, website, and print

  • Coordinate event calendar and post to website

INDEPENDENT SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT CREATOR + STRATEGIST

Research global artist-built environments and share site images, stories, and events on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and spacesarchives.org to readers internationally.

Aug 2018 - April 2019

Plan and execute social media plan for 75th anniversary season of the Distinguished Guest Series featuring photos of seasons past, along with 2018-19 artists Katharine McPhee, Postmodern Jukebox, and Wynonna Judd. Act as consultant for incoming program manager on social media practices for future seasons. 

EDUCATION SPECIALIST 

John Michael Kohler Arts Center ● Sheboygan, WI

Aug 2013 - July 2019

  • Design and facilitate hands-on programming for all ages; early childhood through adults. Recruit, interview, and hire instructors for classes and workshops. Write contracts for incoming instructors. Collaborate with marketing department to create content and strategies for promotion of programs. Prepare spaces, inventory, and patron communication for programs.

  • Represent organization at conferences; presentations and hands-on workshops
    include Association of Midwest Museum, Wisconsin Statewide Alzheimer’s Conference,
    SPARK! Conference, Sheboygan Caregiver Conference and Wisconsin Art Education
    Association Conference.

  • Organize annual events, like the Chair City Cookout, an event at a unique, local art environment that combines local art, music, food, and history. Increased attendance by 1400% over 5 years.

  • Manage curriculum development project written in collaboration with education team for artist-built environments that aligns with National Visual Art Standards and 21st Century Skills, present and share about curricula. Plan professional development opportunities, like the Innovative Educators Institute, to share unique collection to empower educators to share artist-built environments with their classrooms. Increased participation between 2017 and 2018 by 200%

  • Coordinate and manage budgets for educational classes, camps, workshops and events. Work with Development team to procure funding for programs and events through grants and other financial support. Notable grants include Aroha Philanthropies Seeding Vitality Arts Grant (2018, $25,000) for workshop series designed for older adults and Bader Philanthropies grants (2015, $7000 + $6000) to support performing arts residency of Sandglass Theatre and hosting
    of SPARK! Conference.  

  • Curate and plan annual Youth Art Month exhibition featuring 250+ works by local students and work cross-departmentally to plan opening celebration, the highest attended opening event annually, featuring student performances, hands-on workshops, and Arts Center scavenger hunt. 

  • Coordinate monthly SPARK! creative engagement program for people living with memory loss. Act as marketing chair for SPARK! Alliance and assist in adaptation of organization to create streamlined process for new alliance members as the SPARK! Alliance grows nationally. Planned SPARK! Conference in 2016, 2017. Train incoming organizations and act as mentor during their first year. Joined Dementia Care Network (DCN) in 2014, elected President in 2016. 

  • Manage Ballroom and Youth Dance programs. Oversee instructors and communicate with families, plan spring Youth Dance recital and end-of-year social with 2 performances. Plan three ballroom events annually.

  • Oversee education interns, instructors, and volunteers.

  • Worked with local business owners and designer to create Sheboygan Passport Challenge to encourage residents and out-of-towners to explore Sheboygan.
